1st Joyful Mystery

-Luke 1:26-38

-Matthew 1:18-25

The message of the Incarnation (that is God becoming man, by taking on flesh, our human flesh), this message was made known by St. Gabriel the Archangel, to Our Lady, Blessed Virgin Mary.

The joy of a woman being with child is a treasure to behold, but this isn’t just any woman, for this is, the most blessed among women, & the Child isn’t just any child. for this is the Divine Child, Divino Nino, the Redeemer.

Our Lady was puzzled by the greeting she received from St. Gabriel. That which is fitting for Royalty as he exclaimed, “Hail! Full of Grace, the Lord is with you.”

Our Lady being betroth to St. Joesph, (an engagement to marry) she would have been well aware of where any children in the future would have been expected to come from, but Our Lady’s simple question to St. Gabriel, “How can this be, for I know not man?” one can draw the logical conclusion, since Our Lady & St. Joesph were already engaged, & she knows how children are brought forth into life; it is an indication of a marriage with a Vow of Chasity.

So Our Lady’s question is a honest question, & points to her Perpetual Virginity. And the Joy of this Annunciation is a miraculous fulfillment of the Old Testament prophecy by the Holy Prophet Isiah,  “Behold a Virgin will give birth.”

Our Lady’s fiat, “Be it done according to Thy will,” set off the salvific plan Our God revealed in Genesis 3:15.

As we pray the “Our Father” & “Hail Mary” prayers, let’s place ourselves there with Our Lady & rejoice in the Annunciation there
