2nd Joyful Mystery of the Holy Rosary - The Visitation

 -Luke 1:39-56

Our Lady’s cousin, St. Elizabeth (who is the mother of St. John the Baptist) was filled the Holy Spirit when she heard Our Lady’s greeting. She, under Divine Inspiration said to Our Lady, “Blessed art thou amongst women, & blessed is the Fruit of your womb.” & she then said & proclaimed in a humble way, what we should say to Our Lady’s visitation to us, “Who am I that the Mother of my Lord should come to me?”

She goes on to tell how the baby in her womb who is St. John the Baptist, leapt in the womb, upon hearing the greeting of Our Lady. This tells us, a baby in the womb is very much alive & there can be no doubt that Mary is the Mother of Our Lord, for this was revealed by the Holy Spirit

In an act of charity, Our Lady, after hearing the Good News of her own miraculous pregnancy, went & traveled to visit her cousin, St. Elizabeth, who, too has a miraculous pregnancy at an old age.

This Joyful event is also where Our Lady proclaimed her Magnificat, her soul proclaims the Glory of the Lord Our God. “Holy is His Name!!” … Great is His Glory.

As we pray the “Our Father” & the “Hail Mary” prayers, let us imitate Our Lady’s charity, humility & love. With her let us too allow our souls to proclaim the Glory of God.
